Lesson Objectives:

The student will: write an ad for an imaginary product and advertise it on the radio.

Instructional Procedures:

(Number steps beginning with. tsw write Initial Activity  and ending with  Closing Activity.)

  1.  Initial Activity: tsw choose a product to sell
  2. tsw write a persuasive advertisement to read on the radio as a disc jockey
  3. tsw check written work for grammatical errors
  4. tsw read the ad out loud to the class
  5. tsw take notes identifying when the  DJ is expressing opinions or what appears to be facts
  6. tsw identify the draw backs to the invention being presented
  7. Closing Activity: tsw tell which products they would or would not buy and why

Instructional procedures Cont’

Model for the students what the ad should contain.  (name of product, description, advantages, price)

Provide suggestions for products – the more outrageous the better.

Assessment/s:

Check written ad for errors.

Check oral presentation for required components.

Check feedback from peers as to persuasiveness of presenter.

Extension Activities/

The student may present in front of the class rather than on radio =  television commercial
